Central Station - Apartments Suites - Gaiola

The apartment itself was fine once I got inside, but dealing with the reservation was a mess from beginning to end. I booked through VRBO for Napoli Central apartments and was then told the booking was actually with Wonderful Italy, the same thing that happened with a Venice stay. At first they couldn't find my reservation, and when they did, the whole thing felt like someone from Wonderful Italy might be trying to scam me. They also hadn't disclosed that there was no toilet paper. The city tax payment was another problem. For this booking they wanted cash left in a lockbox, while my Venice booking with the same company used a link. Napoli's WhatsApp messages kept coming from an individual's number, whereas Venice always used a business number. That felt sketchy. After we left the cash in the box and went out for the day, my phone kept buzzing with messages saying I hadn't paid. It turned out to be a shared lockbox, so another guest may have taken it, or the person could have taken the money and made me pay twice. They wanted me to pay cash and then send money to a personal Venmo. I refused. It was a really unpleasant experience. The area is urban, with plenty of graffiti and trash, but we never felt unsafe. There were lots of police around if needed, and we walked to nearby areas and the train station without any trouble. Still, because of the management problems, I wouldn't stay here again.
