Ecumano Space

The hotel was clean and well placed in the old center, but for the price it was disappointing. It doesn’t deserve three stars, in my view. Breakfast was very limited and poor, the showers didn’t work properly, and I couldn’t wash my hair. There was no kettle, tea, or coffee in the room, and our mezzanine room had no cutlery, napkins, plates, or cups. Some staff were quite cold, and hospitality felt badly lacking. I do want to thank Angela, though, for arranging a birthday cake for my son at extra cost, since there’s no restaurant in the hotel. Pool hours were very limited and it closed at 1 pm on weekends. We stayed five days and wouldn’t come back. There are much better hotels at this price.

Our room was huge, and the staff were nice, but there were ants all over room 413. The pool was enjoyable, though its hours were so short, with just one hour of evening swimming each day, and even then it was rented out and full of a swim team. Breakfast was surprisingly dull. Even a slice of cheese or ham would have helped. The room itself was nice, and the location was great for the old town, though the area can feel a little unsafe.

The location persuaded us to overlook the bad reviews, and that was a big mistake. On our last day, they served us a foul-smelling boiled egg. I took it to the English-speaking man at reception to show him, expecting an apology. Instead, he yelled that it wasn’t his responsibility, stood up as if he might fight me, and called me rude for interrupting his work and bringing him the egg. My four-year-old daughter saw it happen because reception and the breakfast area share the same space. She got scared for my safety and said she wanted to go home. The rooms also smelled awful from the pipes, so strongly of sewage that it was hard to stay in them for long. They were extremely noisy too, since this is basically a sports center with a few rooms and lots of adults and children. They also charged us 5 euro per day to keep one bag while we visited an island and returned to the property. If you want your holiday ruined, stay here.

The hotel is right in the center, with spacious rooms that were spotless. Staff were friendly and informative, and breakfast each morning came with tasty coffee. There’s an excellent gym and an Olympic pool in the hotel. I’d gladly return when visiting Naples. Thanks again for everything.
