Hotel Nunù

The breakfast team were friendly and the food was pretty good. The location was convenient, with a metro station, restaurants and shops nearby. The room was a bit small but mostly clean, and the two balconies were nice for sitting or standing and watching Naples go by. The bathroom was very cramped, with the sink almost touching the toilet, and the floor got dirty quickly. The shower worked normally, but its glass door left very little room to move. The entrance was hard to find, and smelly trash cans were lined up outside, so at first it wasn't obvious this was a hotel. The elevator was also so small that there was barely room for three people, let alone three suitcases.

The room was clean and modern, with quiet air conditioning. Breakfast was generous, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. It's a great location, just a short walk from restaurants and tourist sights.

The staff were all friendly, their English was much better than my Italian, and we were given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. Still, that wasn't enough to make me want to return. Reception was neat and very clean, and the man who checked us in was polite and spoke excellent English. The room initially looked bright and modern, like they were trying to refresh an old building, but that impression didn't last. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows awful, the shower poor, and the towels among the thinnest I've ever had. The bedside lamp didn't work because its switch was broken. The traffic noise was unbelievable day and night, with motorbikes and emergency sirens waking us repeatedly. There was aircraft noise too, as if the hotel was under the airport flight path. If you're a light sleeper, avoid this place. The shower also dripped and ran randomly, waking us up; it was separated from the bed only by a glass screen. The entrance was hard to believe a taxi had found: a tiny door cut into a larger one, with refuse bins partly blocking it and regularly overflowing and stinking. You may hit your head on the upper part of the doorway. The main street is covered in graffiti and overflowing bins, and the whole area is dirty and smells. The elevator up to reception is tiny, just about enough for two people and luggage, and there's no sign inside telling you which floor is which.

A fun hotel in a great spot, only a couple of minutes' walk from Christmas Alley and Spaccanapoli. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, bacon, sweets, yogurt and all kinds of coffee. Having the car valet parked was a huge convenience and took away a lot of stress. We'd definitely stay here again.
