La Chambre

Vomero made a great base for my first visit to Naples. It feels safe, there’s plenty to see and eat nearby, and the metro is easy to reach. At La Chambre, I had a large room that was quiet and private, all at a good price. Breakfast was brought to the room and was both tasty and professionally served. I’d happily recommend the place to anyone visiting, especially for the first time.

The room was quiet despite the busy city outside, and the shared lounge was a nice feature. There are about five separate rooms in the accommodation. Our family of four stayed for two nights in May 2019 and found both the lodging and its location excellent. Vomero sits up on a hill, with lovely views over Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The area is upmarket and well connected to the rest of the city by metro and three funiculars, which are fun to ride. Castel S. Elmo and Certosa di S. Martino are about a ten-minute walk away, with shops, excellent restaurants and ice cream parlours around too. The place had recently been refurbished to a high standard and felt crisp and clean. Breakfast was a treat: fresh baked goods from a local bakery, cured meats and cheese. Antonio and his team made hot drinks and offered friendly, polite advice.

Getting around was easy, with the metro only 100m from the hotel, and the location felt perfect. It’s in the town’s safest and cleanest district. Check-in was automatic and went smoothly. The staff were great and friendly, and breakfast delivered straight to the bed was amazing.

The location is central, and the room was relatively clean. Still, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and the room lighting had a hospital-like tone. Average room, and not the best value for money.
