Le Porte di Napoli - Rooms

The room was large and had a fridge, air conditioning, a hairdryer, a wardrobe, and a wall-mounted clothes rack. Garibaldi station is only a five-minute walk away, and the guy we dealt with was very friendly and even spoke a little Spanish. For a few days in the city centre, the room itself isn't bad. The area felt chaotic and dirty, especially around the piazza. The entrance to the building was under construction, and it looked like there was another hotel next door. When we arrived, someone was already using the only small elevator. Our room was on the fifth floor, but the elevator only goes to the fourth, so we had to take the stairs for the last floor. Breakfast was included, but at Sorella café we were told it meant one croissant each and two drinks total, with no more included. The breakfast was supposed to be worth up to €10 per person when booked, and what we got didn't even add up to €10 for both of us. The water also left my skin feeling like plastic. We had to pay a tax on arrival, like in Venice where it's €3 per person per night, but here it was €18 for the two of us.

Ayrton was so kind and welcoming, and our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We were just steps from the central station and city centre. Naples is a magical place, full of history and wonderful food. You have to see it to believe it.

We spent two nights there at the end of May. The room was very spacious and fully renovated, and breakfast at a nearby café was offered for both days. The B&B is very close to the central station, with trains, metro, and buses available there. It’s in a building attached to another hotel, which I found hard to spot.

The B&B door was locked, and there was no way to open it. There wasn't even an emergency exit. Some guests missed their flights, and others lost their plans for the day. The owner didn't respond and just washed her hands of the situation. They also demanded an extra €20 when we arrived at 12:01 a.m. because our flight was delayed, which wasn't our fault. After paying a fortune to stay here, we found the place substandard: the floor was dirty, and the towels and sheets weren't changed during our stay. They have incredible nerve. Total scoundrels.
