LudBen Dante

I stayed three nights. I’m suspicious of all the 5/5 reviews. Francesco responded promptly when I needed something, and the room had strong WiFi, a working TV, a mini refrigerator, an electric kettle with tea bags, enough lighting, and three sets of keys for security. The room, bathroom, and shower were cleaned daily, and there was hot water. Breakfast came with a coupon for coffee or cappuccino and a croissant at the cafe across the street. For an American style breakfast, you have to wait until 8:30AM and pay. Getting in could have been smoother. I arrived 20 minutes early, and the codes for the building, LudBen Dante suite, and room weren’t emailed ahead of time. We had to sort it out by text that day. The old building has no lift, so you’ll carry your bags up three flights. The stairway lights don’t work, and at night you have to find the keyhole for the LudBen Dante suite at the top in total darkness. I slipped and nearly had a serious accident, grabbing the handrail just in time. The bedspread was stained and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The mattress was hard, and street noise through the window made it hard to sleep. Towels were supposed to be exchanged every two days when I booked, but the schedule changed to every three. Francesco asked the cleaner to bring fresh ones every two days, which I appreciated, but I wouldn’t stay somewhere that normally changes towels every three days. Checkout is promptly at 10AM, with all keys left in the room. You can leave luggage in the hallway afterward, using the codes to re-enter the building and LudBen Dante suite. I gave LudBen Dante two stars because there’s no lift, the dark stairs are dangerous, street noise and the hard mattress made sleeping difficult, the codes weren’t provided before arrival, and the bedspread was dirty.

Keeping sheets and towels for all the rooms in the bed of the room we were staying in felt really unprofessional. It also made us uneasy that staff might enter even when the sign said not to. We left our son asleep with the do-not-enter sign on the door, but the cleaner woke him to ask if she could come in. They also sent us a WhatsApp asking for permission, and when we got back, the cleaner asked again.

Leaving our bags before and after the stay made exploring so much easier. The center of Naples is just a short walk away, and the room was spacious and spotless, with a kettle for a cup of tea when we got back. Bernadetta helped us find the hotel over the phone and welcomed us like family. It really felt like coming home. We’ll definitely stay with them again.

The location is just steps from Via Toledo, and the clear communication made everything easy. The rooms were very clean, and the cleaning lady was kind and helpful. They let us leave our luggage after checkout so we could explore the city, and were there for us just as they had been when we arrived. We’d choose LudBen again if we return.
