The host is friendly, responsible, and helpful, and checks that guests are settled in. It’s a good location and price for budget travelers. Cleanliness was acceptable. A couple of things need attention: the right-hand stair rail comes loose when you climb with luggage, which could cause an accident, and the plug on the table lamp is broken and exposed, so it didn’t seem safe to use.

The place had a nice charm and the room was quite spacious, so it met my needs. The bathroom was decent, though the water temperature fluctuated a bit. WiFi worked in my room, but apparently not in every room. Breakfast was basically bread and a drink. There’s room to improve, but overall it was a good place. If you have a car, the parking garage is about a 15-minute walk away and costs around €20/day.

I left after this and found an Airbnb with good air conditioning and WiFi. The main issue wasn’t just that my room had neither, but the way the host reacted when I asked for livable conditions. I’m usually easygoing and try to see things from a host’s side, and I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, but this was unbearable. It’s the first time I’ve written a bad review. The listing on Hostelworld and Google said there was air conditioning in all rooms. The common area was extremely hot when I arrived, and even the receptionist was sweating. I hoped my room might be cooler, but it was extremely hot too. The receptionist still had to move beds out of the room after I arrived, even though I offered to help. There was one barely working fan, which seemed to be the supposed “air conditioner.” He said I could use the fan in the living room, but that didn’t help either. After a couple of hours I couldn’t take it anymore and texted him to ask for another fan or some solution. He got very defensive and aggressive, saying, “I chose one of the cheaper rooms, and if you can’t pay for it then I shouldn’t complain.” It was 105 F in my room, and no human could sleep there. Hostelworld refunded me after seeing the listing said “Air Conditioning In All Rooms,” which they said broke their policies. They then made him change the description. I felt he had used the air conditioning claim to get people to stay when all he had was a fan. The listing also clearly said on Hostelworld and Google that there was WiFi. My room had no WiFi service, so I had to keep going to the common areas, despite his specific claim of “WiFi in all rooms.” WiFi is extremely important for us travelers. I hardly saw him and only asked for bearable, livable conditions. I expect he’ll respond aggressively to this review too, as he did to the negative reviews here.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was acceptable, but I didn’t feel comfortable or cozy there. The place was very old and run down, as though nothing had been renewed in 50 years, and cleanliness could have been much better. It seemed to me the owner wanted to keep taking cash from tourists without investing in the property.
