The room was clean and the AC worked well, but the shower door had come off its runner, its temperature control swung between scalding and cold, and the pull-out bed was rock hard. We also had a stressful arrival. Our train was delayed, so we called to say we’d be there around 7.30 pm and were told there could be no check-in after 8. We rushed in, hot and bothered, with two children and four cases, arriving at 7.50. Reception had a sign saying it closed at 9, and the staff seemed amused by our scramble. The central location came with daily rubbish piles that seemed to be cleared in the morning, dog mess on the paths, and homeless people regularly searching for food scraps in skips. I’d be cautious with young children. It was the worst place we stayed in during four weeks travelling around Europe, and not even one of the cheaper bookings.

The hotel is near Via Toledo, Via Spaccanapoli, and Via Tribunali. The rooms are small but lovely, and ours had a terrace.

Nothing fancy here, and the facilities are very basic. The location is great, though, with most historic-center attractions in Naples about a 20-30 minute walk away.

We stayed in rooms 404 and 405 at the end of November and had a wonderful night's sleep in very comfortable beds. The rooms were furnished with real care and taste, and both the cleanliness and Wi-Fi were impeccable. It’s a splendid Art Nouveau building, and the terrace, coffee machine in the room, and excellent breakfast served at the table all made the stay special. We chose it for its closeness to the city's most beautiful areas and the thoughtful way guests are welcomed, and we’re glad we did. Thanks for the hospitality, especially Francesco, whose advice on places to visit near Naples was invaluable. See you soon.

The guy at the mini reception was very helpful, at least from what little I saw of him. Still, I went in with high expectations and came away a bit disappointed with everything, especially the cleanliness. There was hair in the shower and on the floor. The only four stars I’d give it are for the price.
