Hostel Ostello Bello Napoli

The location is brilliant, right on the edge of Quartier Spagnoli. My room was a spacious 8-bed female dorm with two en suites and a large window for light and air. The rooftop terrace takes a bit of effort to reach, but it’s a lovely big space once you’re up there. The kitchen is small for a hostel this size, with limited room to eat. It’s an older-style hostel spread over three floors of a building that also houses other businesses. Because of that, it didn’t feel quite as comfortable as the Bello hostels in Palermo and Roma.

There were lots of free snacks and drinks through the day, including water, coffee, tea, and fruit. Our 8-person mixed en suite room was great, with two toilets. There weren’t curtains on the beds, but I still felt very safe in the room. Bring your own padlock or pay for one at reception. The place was clean, in a great spot right by the metro, and Francesca made our stay even better.

The building is great, but most of the people working there were rude to me and to some of the girls staying there. Rafael, the Brazilian guy, was the only one who tried to be polite. The bar and reception staff seemed more focused on getting women drunk than providing good service. One of the bartenders, the blonde one with tanned hair, kept joking about putting “funny pills” in women’s drinks, and his friends laughed along. It’s a shame a good place has such appalling employees. Women aren’t safe here.

For only 25 euro a night, I got all kinds of games and activities, and met so many interesting people from around the world. I was traveling solo for a weekend, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. It was the best hostel experience I could have asked for.
