Relais Metis

Noise is the whole story here. We searched carefully for quiet accommodation and two rooms for my father-in-law’s dream trip to Napoli for his 60th birthday. The place looked great at first, but the noise meant many tired, sick days for me, and no chance to nap. I have a chronic illness and need a normal amount of rest to avoid health issues. Even my three relatives, who don’t have sleep problems, found it seriously difficult to rest. On the first night, in room 3, whenever anyone in the building ran water, it sounded as if the building was being knocked down. We complained, then swapped rooms with family members on our own, moving to room 1. In both rooms we were woken around 7:30 daily by loud banging. At first we thought there was an emergency, since it sounded like our bathroom wall was coming down, but it was building work that went on all day. There was also constant street noise because there was no double glazing, plus noise from other rooms and hallways through the paper-thin walls. The suite we booked was also advertised inaccurately. There was no separate living room or sofa, and no champagne or wine included, though that wasn’t a big thing. The restaurant and bar where the booking promised a discount had shut down.

We loved staying at this beautifully presented guest house in an elegant neighborhood. Each day we walked into the historic centre, and for me that’s where Naples’ special beauty comes through: streets and alleys full of life wherever you look.

Alba made the stay feel special with such lovely service, and our room was gorgeous, especially the beautifully decorated bathroom with its jacuzzi. We did have one issue: there were no windows, and our satnav struggled to find the place.

We needed a little getaway together, and this was just right. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
