Royal Flower

Room 504 had bedbugs. One climbed onto my chest as soon as we got into bed, which luckily alerted us right away. After checking carefully, we found plenty more. We packed our things and spent the night at the train station because reception was closed and nobody answered the phone. The next day we had to wash everything so we wouldn't carry bedbugs to the next guest or back home. The hotel refused to reimburse us, saying we hadn't contacted them during the incident. That wasn't true: we called several times, and also tried the travel agency, but no one picked up. The neighborhood was awful too, crowded with homeless people and drug dealers. Run, run, run!

We paid for a booking through booking.com, then our flight was cancelled. We asked for a refund a month ahead of time, but they declined.

We booked two nights and left after just one. The worn-out mattress, only two towels for three of us, and a small roll of toilet paper made for a lousy stay. We got no sleep either, with Piazza Garibaldi shining brightly outside and only pale curtains to block the light. In the afternoon and evening, nobody seemed to be at reception. When our travel agency tried to mediate, the hotel told them we'd left to 'run some errands'. We left because we hadn't slept and had been treated badly. The receptionist also declined to speak English. We never got a response to our request for a refund for the unused second night. An absolute rip-off.

The flat was really clean and comfortable for three kids, and the retro elevator inside was totally cool. The people doing room service were very nice and helpful, so I want to stay there again. It's in the city center, close to the metro, train, and bus stops.
