Santa Chiara Apartment

The room was nice and quiet, even in the middle of hectic Naples. In the morning, we opened the window to birdsong, with just the occasional scooter speeding past. It’s on the second or third floor, and you have to buzz in and walk upstairs since there’s no elevator. Breakfast wasn’t worth the time, though you can get coffee and a croissant at the nearby bar.

A lovely little hotel inside a residential building, with nice rooms that seem newly renovated. The person at reception was super friendly and helpful. It’s within walking distance of everything happening in Naples. We had a lovely time there and a great stay at the hotel. Highly recommended, and I’ll certainly be back.

The room had only the basics, but it did the job. The location is good if you like crowded areas, though Spaccanapoli was packed every time we had to cross it to get to places we wanted to see. It’s also a very touristy area, with souvenir sellers all around, and the local culture seems to be dwindling. Getting into Santa Chiara Inn with our luggage was horrendous. There should be clearer directions: it’s down an alley, through a gated door, then up two floors. We had packed for a two-week trip. Around 7 am I urgently needed help, but nobody answered the listed numbers, and one was out of service. They got back to me hours later. After several voicemails, they emailed casually instead of calling back.

The rooms are freshly renovated, very clean, and chic, and the staff are really friendly. It’s a sweet little hotel in central Naples. There’s no elevator because it’s a historic building, and the area’s streets are steep and bumpy. If you have heavy luggage, I’d take a taxi. We paid 10.50€ to Central Station.
