Villa Pacis

The rooms were spotless, and there’s plenty of space to park your car. It’s a good choice if you want somewhere quiet. Breakfast was VERY good, better than what I’ve had at places that cost much, much more.

I stayed at Villa Pacis for more than a month, including Christmas and New Year, and felt at home every day and night. The place has a warm feel, with bells, lemon trees, a rooftop terrace, sea sunsets, sunrises over Vesuvio, the sisters praying and singing in the evening, children at the kindergarten, and a cozy kitchen. Those are the moments I’ll remember. For practical details, the place is spotless, with fresh towels and bed linen. Breakfast runs from 8:30 to 9:00 and includes fried eggs, yogurt, milk, cornflakes, water, juice, coffee, tea, baked goods, and several kinds of cheese and sausage that change daily. The washing machine costs 3 euros, and kitchen use is 2 euros. Shops for groceries and coffee are nearby. It’s far from the city center, but just a five-minute walk to the Line 2 railway station.

The terrace and balcony were lovely, and breakfast was great. The place itself is a good one to stay at, and I’d go back. We were disappointed that somebody took our food from the shared kitchen fridge. Cooking there costs an extra 2€. The shower is really small, so someone a bit stout might not fit.

Breakfast came with freshly fried eggs, which were delicious, and the women running the place were very nice. They stick strictly to the restrictions. There’s lots of parking inside the walls, though the neighborhood outside was pretty dirty, with garbage around and high walls, metal bars with sharp points, and barbed wire. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, even though I’d mentioned our arrival when booking on booking.com, so we waited another ten minutes in our riding gear in 35-degree heat. There was no hot water. That wasn’t an issue in the evening, but it would’ve been useful in the morning. The air conditioning worked well. In the morning, the toilet had no water and the electricity was out for about ten minutes.
