We were okay overall, but for 260€/night in low season, this didn't feel like a four-star hotel. I'm surprised by the reviews. The rooms are okay, but the setup is odd: there's no reception in the gallery, and the entrance to the other reception is very narrow and has only stairs. Rooms facing the gallery are much too noisy at all hours, including weekday nights.

The bed was comfortable, the room we were assigned happened to be quiet despite the loud area, and the location was central. But the security and access problems were deal-breakers. We booked two nights and stayed only one, reluctantly. We checked in at 8pm local time on September 30. Caruso Place is in a shared building, and guests have to ring a street bell to get in. At check-in we were told staff were there 24 hours and that pressing 101 and the bell symbol would get us buzzed in. Our room was on the fourth floor, the top floor, or fifth by US standards. The only lift was tiny, slow, and required a physical key rather than the digital room key. We asked to take the stairs, but were told they stopped at the third floor, leaving us with no escape route in an emergency. After checkout they said over WhatsApp there was a staircase they hadn't mentioned, despite our direct question. I never saw it, so can't confirm it. The room door used a keypad, but there was no deadbolt or chain to stop someone with the code from coming in while we slept. The balcony was shared with a kitchen accessible to any guest who could reach the fourth floor. Our room's only window was a glass door onto that balcony, so anyone going out there could physically reach it. We kept it locked, but the arrangement felt very strange. We went out for dinner, and when we returned at 11:20pm there was another Caruso Place guest outside with his young son. They said they'd been ringing for 20 minutes, and the boy seemed very stressed. I was upset too when the hotel didn't answer. We repeatedly rang the bell; after pressing 101 and the bell symbol, the screen confirmed Caruso Place and we could hear it ringing, so we knew we had the right place. Nobody responded. We called the hotel phone and got no answer, sent WhatsApp messages and got no answer, called on WhatsApp with no answer, and tried ringing other properties in the building. This went on for another 20 minutes, making 40 minutes in total for the other guest and his son. We were stuck outside with no way into the building or our room. Eventually a hotel man who looked groggy, maybe sleepy or drunk, buzzed us in and yelled that we hadn't rung or called. I'd been trying for 20 minutes and had both visual and audio confirmation, as had the other guest. The "night porter" was very rude and tried to gaslight four guests, saying we hadn't used the right way to get in. Yet we used the same method as at check-in, when it worked, and the same method that eventually got him to buzz us in. How could that be our mistake? We had to stay the one night since we couldn't move elsewhere at midnight.

The rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the keyless code entry was convenient and felt secure. The staff were very friendly and professional, always ready to help with a smile. Caruso Hotel is right in the center, easy to reach and close to everything you might need. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back and recommend it.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service is friendly. The hotel sits right on Via Toledo, a busy central street, so there's noise through the day, into late evening, and again in the early morning. Closing the street-facing window cuts it down a lot. If you want to be in the city center close to everything, it's an excellent choice.

A good boutique hotel if you want to stay right in the heart of Napoli. The service was very good, though the rooms are small and laid out a bit oddly.
