Apartment Villa Gariga

A mess. Don’t stay here. The pictures don’t look like the real place at all. The cutlery and dishes are a jumble, and the knife won’t cut anything. It feels like camping. The terrace is the only nice part. You can hear everything between your room and the neighbors.

I’m posting this again because it was removed, and I don’t think that’s right. Criticism should be accepted along with compliments. We had a bad experience and wouldn’t repeat it. The photos looked lovely, so that’s why we booked, but what we got was a tiny room that was being called a studio apartment. There were only two burners and a mini-fridge, and it didn’t feel worth even half the price. We were uncomfortable, especially because the windowless bathroom let every sound through. The two hosts were difficult to reach. We asked for a fan because the listing said there was air conditioning, but they didn’t provide one. They said a breeze came up in the evenings, but no air reached our little room, so sleeping was hard every night. The kitchen, or really just the stove area, was barely equipped. There wasn’t even a knife for cutting a watermelon, only four pieces of cutlery and a ladle. The location is the one good point, since it’s close to the main beaches. We wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The terrace has a stunning view, especially at sunset, and there’s a lovely quiet feeling in the nature reserve, with greenery and animal sounds all around. The location works well for getting to several nice beaches and places of interest. Anna Laura and Giuseppe were friendly and gave us useful information. The studio apartment is small but has what you need. We enjoyed the shared spaces at different times of day. It has a camping feel: you can read or nap in the shade of a fig tree, among the pines, or in a hammock, and look up at the stars at night. We’re a couple who adapt easily, but I can see this setup not suiting everyone. The studios really need renovating and updating. We know the hosts are aware, so we hope the problems get sorted soon. The connecting bathrooms don’t offer privacy, the bed was quite uncomfortable, and some dishes were a bit dirty, with dust here and there too. Since we were on holiday and liked the setting, those things ended up mattering less to us.

The outdoor area is lovely, and we got spectacular sunsets from the terrace. We spent 12 days in a studio apartment at Villa Gariga and had a great time. The place is clean and well organized, and Anna and Giuseppe were very kind and helpful. I’ll definitely be back. ❤️😍
