The landlady was quick to get rude when we brought up the many problems, and showed no understanding. She told us, “Germans are so demanding and never satisfied.” Maybe that also explains why, despite the many negative German-language reviews, the other guests in the house were all Italian. We thought we could put up with any place for three nights, but we were wrong. We booked three nights in a one-room apartment and left after two. I’ve never before stayed somewhere so bad that we had to cut a trip short, and I hope this helps others avoid having their holiday spoiled. We’re not especially demanding, but the apartment was badly run down. The room, bathroom, and little entrance area with a basic kitchenette looked like they hadn’t been renovated or updated in at least 20-30 years. Nothing seemed to get replaced, except the small TV, which was relatively new. The balcony window wouldn’t shut properly. Its brittle seals let in a strong draft even with the blinds closed, and the heating on full still couldn’t warm the apartment properly. We stuffed towels into the gaps for a temporary fix. The windows also let in all the noise. You could hear people in the stairwell or talking in another apartment, and there was no privacy. Other guests were up talking and moving around late at night, making it hard to sleep. The old refrigerator was just as bad: we had to switch it off overnight because its compressor woke us every 10 minutes. There was dog hair throughout the room and the rest of the building. The landlady said several dogs lived there, and they barked at night. The dishes and cutlery weren’t clean enough to use without rinsing them first. Our sofa bed had a thin, very hard mattress, so sleeping was miserable unless you like a rock-hard bed. Wi-Fi didn’t reach the whole house, only the ground floor, where the signal was good enough in the common room. And despite what the website promises, the package includes entry to the nearby pool, but not the sauna. There are only a few parking spaces, squeezed very close together.
