We booked this house through Booking.com for a few nights for ourselves and our two small children, paying 1,400 euros. The website photos looked amazing, so we were excited to arrive. The room we found was a converted basement: large, but very dark and musty, with almost no natural light beyond the entrance door and a few small windows. The outdoor furniture was dirty and poorly maintained, and we could hear every step from the guests above because the sound insulation was terrible. We also heard that the owner keeps the first-floor rooms with large windows for themselves, while families are put in dark basement rooms. When we asked the receptionist about changing rooms, she said the others were occupied. She offered to cancel our reservation, but said we’d need to request a refund through Booking.com, so we left. Booking.com later told us the hotel had refused the refund. The owner said there was no refund policy on short notice and that nobody had told us we could get our money back, which wasn’t true. We wouldn’t have left if we’d known a refund wasn’t possible. The receptionist misled us, the owners were dishonest, and we lost over 1,400 euros. Whatever they say in response may be far from the truth. I strongly recommend avoiding this place and these untrustworthy people.

The welcome Aperitivo and Christmas decorations in the room and around the property made everything feel especially cosy. Our room had lovely vineyard views, a fireplace, and a huge bathtub. The bed was incredible and we slept so well. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and breakfast had a great spread. It’s a peaceful place and a good base for exploring the Langhe region. We couldn’t hear anyone else in the property. The gates open at exactly 4pm, the check-in time. That wasn’t a problem for us, but could be useful to know.

Breakfast had lots of choice, from Italian croissants and homemade cakes, especially the hazelnut one, to cheese and fresh bread. There weren’t vegan options, unfortunately. I brought my own yogurt, though, and I’m sure they’d accommodate if asked. The shared living and breakfast area has plenty of flyers, information, and local contacts, and the website is also really helpful for booking tours and activities. The villa sits among vineyards in the hills near Neive, a lovely, peaceful Langhe escape. We stayed in the Noccioleto room, which was spacious, cosy, spotless, and had a huge bathroom. Everything is thoughtfully designed and very well cared for.

The staff were helpful and professional before we arrived, assisting by email with reservations, and friendly throughout the stay. Our room was spacious, the king bed was very comfortable, and the AC worked really well, which we needed in that weather. The grounds and pool area are beautiful, and breakfast was amazing. It’s perfectly placed for visiting lots of lovely towns, wineries, and restaurants. This was one of the best value hotels we’ve stayed at. When it was time to leave, I wanted to change our travel plans just to stay longer. Don’t hesitate to book.

We had a great stay in Barberesco wine country. Valentina was a big help with restaurant suggestions, wine tours, and plenty of other advice. Great location, highly recommend 👌
