The room was charming and comfortable, in a house rebuilt from Roman ruins. Petrarosa was easily the highlight of our whole Italy trip, and we wished we could give it 10 stars. My partner and I stayed one night with Angelo, and the place and its setting were beautiful. Angelo greeted us warmly, then we spent a lovely evening having wine on the patio, walking around the property, and picking fruit straight from the trees. Later, we shared a wonderful home-cooked dinner with him and the other guests. We loved meeting Angelo's horse, Lulu, donkey, Ettore, and dog, Leone. The care and love Angelo puts into his home and work really shows. In the morning, he offered to take us to a nearby dairy farm that makes Parmigiano reggiano. We got a very personal tour of the cows, milking area, and cheese-making facility. Angelo was incredibly kind and welcoming, and very patient and helpful with our limited Italian. I can't say enough good things about the experience, and it's absolutely worth going out of your way to visit.

We had a wonderful stay at Petrarosa, with dinners from Angelo on two nights and breakfast each morning. The countryside is beautiful, with castles and lovely views around almost every turn. We enjoyed our days there and could easily go to Parma and pick up lots of great local products. We'd recommend Petrarosa to anyone looking for a peaceful agriturismo with a local feel.
