Chalet Serra Pizzuta

This is a whole chalet to yourself, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sofa bed, full kitchen, and fireplace. Set on Mt. Etna, it had beautiful views and was much better than a tiny hotel room in a noisy city. Diletta and her husband were wonderful hosts, reachable by phone for questions or concerns. They checked in with us several times to make sure we had enough wood pellets to keep warm. The house was lovely and very clean, secluded enough for quiet and privacy, yet only a five-minute drive from Nicolosi. You get lovely views of Mt. Etna, and it's near the park entrance or a short drive from the cable cars to the volcano's top. The hosts spoke enough good English for us to communicate easily. We booked through Expedia, a partner of VRBO, and the process was simple. We took day trips to Catania, Taormina, and Ortigia, had plenty of time to explore, and still got back to the chalet before dark. It's well placed for exploring the eastern cities. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're planning a trip to Sicily!
