It's a nice hotel, though there are a few things that could be better. The spa area wasn't working when we checked in, even though it was a major reason we booked, and no discount or anything was offered. The pool also closes at 6pm, which was another reason we'd chosen the hotel since it's inland. We had drinks on the lawn, but the options were limited and expensive. Like most places in Sicily, they only serve bottled beer. I'd like to see a good Italian beer on draft, served in an ice-cold glass or tankard. It was a little weird having a shrine of the owner before being introduced to him.

George met us when we arrived and spoke perfect English, which was a bonus after relying on Google Translate in some places. He went above and beyond to arrange an early check-in so we could relax at the spa, and a late check-out too. Our suite was perfect for getting some work done and unwinding, with a stunning bathroom and a huge balcony. It's a new, modern hotel, well located for Mount Etna and close to town restaurants and shops. The facilities include a heated indoor pool and sauna open till 5pm, plus a very cool outdoor pool. We met the owner, who won World Champion for Pizza many years in a row. There are photos of him with Jennifer Lopez, many other celebrities, and the late Pope. We tried his food at the on-site restaurant, and the pizza was world class while the steak was cooked to perfection.

We spent two unforgettable nights here on our honeymoon, and it turned out to be a perfect base for visiting the Etna. Our elegantly designed room had a lovely mix of comfort and sophistication, and the service was warm, attentive, and impeccable. We enjoyed the serene spa and the in-house restaurant, where every dish was a delight. The artisan pizza by master pizzaiolo Carciotto Luciano was a real gourmet treat. Everything exceeded our expectations.

The food was amazing, and I’d say you’re missing out if you visit Mount Etna without trying the pizza by world champion pizza chef Luciano Carciotto. For a place to stay near the mountain, this is one of Sicily’s most luxurious hotels. My recommendation goes beyond five stars!
