Villa della Cupa

We had lunch at tables among the antique barrels, with warmth from a wood stove and a huge fireplace where they roast the meat. The food is homemade and delicious, and Raffaele, our waiter, was so kind. A truly unique place, recommended.

The setting is charming, among the green hills of Umbria, with beautiful views and cool summer evenings. The restaurant was excellent, serving remarkable traditional food. The apartments, though, were neglected and far too basic, as well as dirty and carelessly kept. We found dirty dishes in the kitchen and no detergent, plates, or cutlery, so we bought those ourselves. There were no bedside tables in the bedrooms, so we had to use kitchen chairs, and the double bed had torn sheets. The bathrooms were dirty and had no shower enclosure, just a broken showerhead, which made showering impossible. At the end of the holiday we raised these problems with the woman who runs the agriturismo, but got no explanation and no discount for what we hadn't received. We didn't get to enjoy the holiday fully, and the bad mood started on day one. Such a shame, because the place itself has charm.

We had a very nice room and everything we tried at dinner was good. I recommend the pigeon Nocerina-style. The setting is beautiful, the welcome was friendly, prices are low, and portions are generous. Breakfast was good and plentiful, too. I stayed the night and had dinner on 5/7/2020. The only thing needing work was the bathroom: the toilet seat should be replaced, and without a shower stall, water gets everywhere.

We had dinner here, and every dish was exquisite, with fresh pasta made on site and ingredients that clearly tasted authentic. The portions were generous, and so were the owners and staff. My family and I stayed in an apartment that was simple but carefully furnished, clean, and very welcoming. I highly recommend it. It really deserves five stars.
