Agriturismo Casa Carpanelli

After 4,700 miles through 12 countries, this was my favourite stop. The family were lovely, and I’d happily come back one day. I tried the tasting menu on the first night, and it was the best meal I’d had in ages. The food came from the farm, as did the grapes used for their wine. The next evening was barbecue night, with lots of locals and a lively atmosphere. The food was just as amazing.

We parked our camper at the site and had the best dinner of our whole trip through Italy. The host was lovely and a brilliant star chef. The site is beside a road, but it didn’t bother us since it was quiet at night.

We came with our kids, dog and camper van, and Eugenio and his family made us feel very welcome. The food was fantastic, and there’s a playground, electricity, amenities and fresh water for the van. You can even shower while looking out over the fields. I’ll definitely return and happily put on a few pounds!

The pool was packed, at least over the weekend, and didn’t feel refreshing. We’d have had to pay for it again the next day, so we left early. Pool use cost another €10 on top of the €36 nightly pitch fee, with no mention of that during booking. Even our one-year-old daughter was charged an entrance fee. The showers were only lukewarm, and both the sanitary facilities and playground seemed run down. There were fewer animals than the photos suggested: a few chickens in dirty cages, a donkey and a horse the children could at least look at. This was the least pleasant and one of the more expensive pitches of our trip so far. We can’t understand the positive reviews. It felt like a rip-off, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
