Casa Chicca - Fiori in Noto

We booked nine nights in August, but left after the fourth because of the cockroaches. When we arrived, the manager showed us around and greeted us kindly. The apartment looked reasonably tidy at first, though the kitchen wasn't well equipped and the bedroom's main light didn't work. After a day out in Noto, we came back from dinner and found more cockroaches under the bed. We contacted Mr. Marco right away. He said he would come the next morning with other "professionals" to put down bait. He was polite, but we would have preferred help immediately. We spent that first night in the car outside. The following evening, after the bait had been placed, we saw cockroaches in the kitchen and by the entrance. On the morning of day three, we called Booking.com since their service was closed at night. They told us to try once more to resolve it with the owner and said they would arrange a full refund if it wasn't fixed. Reassured by that, we went out for the day. But that night, cockroaches came out of the bathroom sink. We called the manager again and had another sleepless night. On the fourth morning, we returned to get our clothes and found two more in the kitchen, one in a swimsuit left out to dry. Marco came to lay down more bait and spray insecticide. By then we were fed up and stressed. That afternoon we told him that if it happened again, we'd ask to check out early and get a refund for the nights we'd spent, or move to another apartment. That night was surreal. On our way back, we overheard a child who had just passed the apartment talking about cockroaches there. We checked and saw at least twenty coming from a pipe outside, while inside they were also coming out of the refrigerator. We heated pots of boiling water to keep them away. Someone sitting in a car opposite the house had watched all this. After a while, he came over, introduced himself as one of Marco's colleagues, and said a couple would be checking in within minutes. Instead of helping us deal with the cockroaches, he politely asked us not to tell the new guests. We told the two young people as soon as they arrived. The next morning, day five, we asked to leave. Marco said there was nothing more he could do and that we needed to speak with Wonderful Italy, who manage the apartments. He had initially offered to move us, as we'd requested, but after what his colleague had said the previous night, we no longer wanted to deal with him. After some unpleasant calls with Wonderful Italy, during which they even questioned whether our account was true, we didn't get a full refund.
