Suite Barocca Bed And Breakfast

The location is ideal for seeing Noto, and Silvia, who welcomed us, was polite and very kind. But my stay at Barocca Suite shortly before mid-August 2022 was a really poor experience. The website photos bore little resemblance to the room we got. In my view, “Barocca Guesthouse” would be a more fitting name. When I went into the bathroom, there was hair in the shower tray, dirt in the bidet, a not-quite-clean sink, and a dirty floor. I reported it to Silvia straight away. She said she'd call the cleaners, but an hour later I still couldn't use the bathroom. After my second request, a cleaner arrived and said dirt had come in through the window and somehow landed only in the bidet, even though the window was far from it. After our long trip and the fatigue of getting to Noto, I spent an hour unable to use the bathroom, take a shower, or go out for a walk. The toilet flush also didn't work properly, and the toilet lock was broken. Breakfast needs a complete overhaul: the coffee tasted rancid and burnt, and the limited options, “cunsato” bread with only oil and croissants, were poor and sad. For the service provided, the price felt far too high, and management seemed unprofessional and inattentive to guests. I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were lovely, with new bathrooms and relaxing showers. The mattress in my room was the weak point: too soft to support my back properly. Parking took a little effort, though it wasn't a serious problem. The location is excellent for the historic centre, just a few metres from the main tourist street.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with tasty cakes and sandwiches from a local bakery. The rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable, and both breakfast and cleanliness were excellent. The location is a great base if you're visiting Noto alone. From outside, though, the entrance facade isn't very welcoming. There isn't reserved parking, so finding a space can be tricky. Between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM it tends to be easier, including spots within walking distance.

At 7:00 in the morning, phone calls and noise in the hallway woke us up. Breakfast was included, but even though we were told to come at 8:30 and hurry for the croissants before they ran out, the table had only croissants, packaged jam, and two juices. Staff didn't know the juice flavours, and told me one was Ace juice. When I asked for cold milk, they said they only had it at room temperature or hot. The location is great, just a few steps from the centre, but the rest of the stay was terrible. The small foyer felt cramped and dirty, and our room was small, dim, and poorly equipped. The toilet and fixtures were dirty at check-in, with hair on the bathroom floor. I told Silvia; she apologized and took photos, but didn't offer an effective fix. I ended up cleaning it myself with the little supplies there were, toilet paper and hand soap. During Covid, that lack of care was unacceptable to me. There were very few toiletries, the shower sprayed water everywhere, and there was no bathmat. The towels were stained. The place has potential, but the attention to detail is lacking and it wouldn't take much to improve it. I wouldn't recommend it as it is.
