The dinners were creative and different each evening, and amazing enough that our praise felt sincere after eating at restaurants around the world. The heated outdoor pool was my favorite part of the spa. We also found the renovated rooms very comfortable and the plush lobby welcoming. Every member of the family and staff was genuinely kind, helpful, and friendly. Our friends had been praising this Obereggen hotel for ten years, especially its location, rooms, staff, and chef, and after nearly a week here this winter, they were right about almost everything. You can ski straight from the hotel, and the sledging run is next door. For trips to other villages in the valley, as we did a few times, the bus stop is nearby. Skis can be rented from a shop near the gondola station, and they can be collected from the hotel at the end of your stay. The station felt safe, though there wasn't much to do or see once you were away from your accommodation.

The location is a dream, and both the food and the staff are superb. The service reminded me of the scene in "The Grand Budapest Hotel" where the manager tells his apprentice to anticipate what guests need before they ask. Nothing seems like too much trouble here.

We planned to stay two nights at Sonnalp, but ended up there for four. The team cared personally about every guest's comfort, and when we arrived late after the kitchen had closed, they still had dinner ready for us. The chef's dinner each day was a gourmet treat. In the US, the restaurant would probably qualify for a michelin star. The hotel is right by the cable car station, so we could get started on our hikes straight away. A wonderful option for escaping the heat and enjoying the beauty of the Oberregen area.

We keep coming back to hotel Sonnalp, and this was our fourth stay, in July 2023. The food remains the best for us: dinner is always top notch, and the chef's high mention in the Gault Millau guide is well deserved. We tour around and enjoy good food, and in recent years we've tried other regional hotels that promote their meals, but Sonnalp is still our favorite. The refurbished rooms are beautiful, the accommodation is excellent, and the staff are both friendly and professional. It's peaceful at the foot of the Latemar massif in the Dolomites, with no vehicles or motorbikes whizzing by. We hope to return many more times.

We've stayed there a few times. The cuisine is excellent, and the hotel sits right by the slope. The rooms are sunny and great, and there's a covered garage. Highly recommended!
