B&B Il Gattopardo

The B&B sits fairly close to the center of this lovely old Sicilian village, but getting there by car was still easy. It’s in an old house with nice rooms, and breakfast is served at the bar next door. A good fit if you want to explore a typical Sicilian village and need a suitable place to stay.

For such a small, out-of-the-way town, this B&B was a pleasant surprise. It’s in a historic house right in the center and has everything you need. We were welcomed promptly and courteously, and breakfast at the village café had everything we could want.

Mrs. Tina was very kind and helpful, and the stay itself was pleasant. The room and bathroom were spotless, with lots of space and a lovely terrace looking out over the valley. The B&B is also very well placed, close to the town center. We booked through friends instead of going through the online process and paid €30 per person. Since breakfast wasn't included, the price felt a bit high for what was offered.

The room was mediocre, with no air conditioning or Wi-Fi, and the pricing left us feeling cheated and made fun of. On a July evening, we planned only a short stop in Novara di Sicilia, but the little town charmed us into staying overnight. A very kind local pointed us to the person who seemed to be the deputy mayor and who owned or managed the B&B. We asked what a room for two would cost that night, and he said thirty euros, so we agreed to stay. At check-in, though, the woman asked for €30 per person, twice what we had been told. We were disappointed. When we heard, “That’s how it works, it’s obvious the price is per person,” we asked whether breakfast was included at least, since nothing seemed obvious anymore. It wasn’t. He then said we should have paid him another €5 each, but that this time he’d include breakfast. We usually don’t leave negative reviews, but this was a truly awful experience with the people running the place. We skipped online booking and trusted the locals’ old-fashioned advice, without any intermediaries, only to feel scammed and mocked like idiots. This is no way to do business, especially at a time like this.
