It’s inspiring to think of this remarkable woman, born in Nuoro about 150 years ago, who went on to become a famous writer.
I loved seeing the Nobel prize document alongside letters, quotes, historical details, and objects from the writer’s life. Everything was neatly displayed, including some ethnographic pieces from her time. A wonderful glimpse into her world.
If you can’t understand Italian, I wouldn’t go. I paid 5€ and was told by the smirking man at the counter that there were no headsets, no translations, and no QR code. All the texts are in Italian. If you want museums in Nuoro where you’ll feel welcome, try the Museo del costume, Museo della ceramica, or the Museo archeologico.
The place seemed very good and interesting, but the people at the entrance were unfriendly and didn’t make us feel welcome. An English information sheet, even just one page, would have been useful. The door was shut at opening time too, and we only found out that you need to ring the bell to be let in.
A great place, as long as you don’t expect explanations in English.
