Hotel Sa Pedra

The hotel was comfortable, clean, and spacious, and there’s a large area by the pool to relax in. The shuttle to a nearby beach is a real treat. Local buses to San Paolo, where you can catch the ferry to Tavolara, and to San Teodoro, with its great beaches and shopping, are just a few minutes’ walk away. There are lovely restaurants nearby too, including my favourite, La Pergola, plus a great artisanal gelateria. You can also get to and from the main airport by local bus.

Rita really made our stay more enjoyable with her warmth, efficiency, and professionalism. She knew we’d arrive late with children and made sure the restaurant saved food for us after the kitchen had closed, which was a lifesaver after a long journey. The next day, she went out of her way to find us a taxi despite the shortage. The bartender and front desk team were welcoming too. Unfortunately, the last impression was soured by the manager. When we asked for a little later checkout, he made an unnecessary remark about how perhaps checkout is later in China, but here it’s 10am. We aren’t from China, and only wanted extra time to get organized since the room wasn’t needed until that evening. Rita had kindly agreed to 11am, but the manager overruled her and said we had to leave right away or pay by the hour. We had to rush out, which was disappointing after an otherwise good stay. Rita’s service deserves recognition, and I hope management values staff like her, who make guests feel welcome.

The pool and garden look great, the rooms were super clean, and the air conditioning was amazing. Poolside drinks and snacks were lovely, and Antonio was the best barman, so nice to chat with and making us the best cocktails ever! All the staff were professional and sweet. The gym has good potential once it’s finished, but right now there’s no AC, so it’s too hot to work out properly.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The dinner restaurant is exceptionally good, and the sweets from the hotel’s cafeteria and pasticceria are dangerously delicious. There’s a free car park across the street. The pool and rear garden are gorgeous, the pool bar has a nice range of snacks and drinks in the afternoon, and the rooms were very clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The new gym is fantastic, one of the best I’ve seen in a regular hotel. Breakfast was decent and offered plenty of choices, with very good sweets, but it didn’t match the dinner restaurant. Morning coffee could be better, the juices were very sweet and there was no real orange juice, and the scrambled eggs and bacon weren’t great, with thick, not very crunchy slices. The hotel isn’t right on the beach, but there’s a free shuttle there and back, or it’s a 15-20 minute walk to Marina Maria beach. We had a rental car and liked the flexibility. The road outside can get busy, so light sleepers might prefer a pricier pool-side room, which is quieter. I’d recommend the hotel.
