Myo Hotel Rocce Sarde

The quiet setting is the best thing about MYO Hotel Rocce Sarde. It’s peaceful and well placed for the area’s amenities and beautiful beaches, so it’s a lovely spot to rest and recharge. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are pleasant, but the building is old and the rooms, furnishings, and comfort felt more like a 2-3 star hotel than the four stars advertised. Breakfast was a major letdown: little choice, poor quality and quantity, empty dishes, cold bad-tasting coffee, and no fruit salad or other fresh options. The omelet lady was friendly, but the other breakfast staff weren’t welcoming or attentive. The pool bar was always closed, and the loungers had no cushions. A good place for the location, but not if you’re after comfort or a decent breakfast.

The mountain setting and scenery were the highlight for us. The views are stunning, the grounds are beautifully kept, and walking around feels like a real pleasure. Our room had a lovely balcony looking out over the mountains, and the pool area is lush with greenery. We stayed for my girlfriend’s birthday, and the team made it one to remember. Reception were especially warm and helpful, suggesting places to visit and ways to get into town, and even helping me download an app and book tickets online. Breakfast was great, with pastries, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, fresh juice, hot food, and a staff member making omelettes. Fresh coffee came to the table, and the cappuccino was 10/10. There was also a different special item each morning. A free shuttle runs to the nearest town and beach, and there’s plenty of parking, but the hotel is remote enough that I’d definitely rent a car. The one thing that let us down was the pool bar, which was closed whenever we tried it. Otherwise, our stay was perfect, and I’m so grateful to the team at the Rocce Sarde.

The grounds are scenic and the staff are polite and friendly. The cleaners and gardeners are brilliant and do a great job. But the rooms need updating, and ours had a toilet that kept flushing because the button was half broken, a leaking basin tap, and a shower head holder that wouldn’t hold the shower arm. The pool needs maintenance, with tiles completely broken at the edge, and the tennis courts are badly neglected and close to falling into disrepair. Food menus need a major improvement, and they don’t even serve pizza. Breakfast was horrible, with cheap meat cuts and battery hen eggs. This is definitely not a child-friendly hotel. They need an independent health and safety inspection ASAP. I could see them being sued for negligence, especially around the pool. I’m here now and will keep updating this daily. I’ll share videos of the problems I’ve mentioned, because I want to be fair.

I rarely write accommodation reviews, especially to point out faults. Usually I use this space to encourage people to visit places I like, where I’ve been treated well. This stay was different. The hotel looks nice from the outside and is in a quiet spot just a few minutes’ drive from San Pantaleo. I missed the fact that there’s no elevator when I booked, so we carried our bags up to the fourth floor. We asked to have the beds separated, which was no problem, but they were old, hard, and uncomfortable. Reception said the hotel was full when we asked to move, but that didn’t seem true, since rooms were available on booking platforms and on their own site. They offered a foam topper, which never came. Instead, they brought a blanket to put underneath, to make the beds “less hard,” and told me that was what they meant to provide. Mosquitoes were also in the room, and I was trying to work out how they got in when we hadn’t even opened a window. I didn’t bother telling reception, since I couldn’t imagine how they’d handle that after the bed problem. For a four-star hotel, the service and customer care fell far short of what I expect, not even half. The beds were terrible and reception showed no willingness to help. I left with a bitter feeling, and don’t recommend staying here.
