Elefant

Set among the vineyards, this is a quiet, comfortable hotel. The rooms are roomy, and most have a lovely balcony looking toward the mountain. Breakfast was good, and so was the restaurant.

The apple strudel everyone had talked up was only average, at best. We were directed here during a bus trip to see the Dolomites, and the coffee was that bitter kind I try to avoid.

The views are brilliant, and the little town has good food and helpful staff. My room didn't have any soap, though I don't know if that's a general issue, and it's an easy thing to fix. It's a lovely, quiet hotel. I was surprised it only has three stars. No pool, either.

Breakfast had a great range of high-quality food, though the room could feel crowded and uncomfortable when the hotel was full. That didn't happen often. The location in the center of Aures is handy, and my spacious room was comfortable during the couple of weeks I spent at the 3-star Hotel Elefant. The curtains let in more light than they should, but it wasn't a big problem. The staff were friendly and helpful, although there's no 24-hour reception. When my transport ran late and they had to wait for me, they seemed quite annoyed. The air conditioning would sometimes stop or reset to a higher temperature, so I had to adjust it again. Wi-Fi also cut out occasionally, but not often. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone after a comfortable, convenient place.
