Hotel Giuggioli

We booked two rooms for one night and left completely disappointed. At check-in, the hotel lady gave us two door cards taped together with Scotch. We went out at 2 PM to explore and got back around 9 PM, but the card no longer worked. There was nobody at reception, despite being assured someone would be there at all times. Other guests couldn't get in that same night either. The rooms' hygiene and condition were poor and didn't deserve three stars. When I told the man at reception about our complaints as we left, he replied arrogantly, "that's how it is." We definitely won't return, and I can't recommend the place.

For 110 euro a night, this was a real disappointment. The hotel was noisy even around midnight, and we found small bugs underneath the bathroom. The room and bathroom furniture were very old and dirty. The bathroom itself was terrible: the toilet seat was completely broken, and although we told reception on our first day, they did nothing about it. Hot water lasted only ten minutes, and the shampoo bottle was nearly empty and never refilled. For the same money, or a little more, you can find a better hotel.

It's near Vatican City, easy to get downtown, and within walking distance of many tourist attractions. The hotel is old, though some rooms have been renovated, but I didn't stay in one of those. Our room was on the fourth floor with five others, and they all looked much the same, very 60s. It was clean, and the housekeepers did their best to keep it that way. For a budget hotel, the tidiness was one of its strengths. The Wi-Fi and air conditioning need upgrading. The Wi-Fi stopped working when it rained and when too many people were using it. The old air conditioner was badly positioned, and took more than an hour to cool the room. Breakfast was minimal, but enough to tide you over until you found a proper meal. If you need an affordable, clean room close to tourist spots, it could work. Also, the hotel elevator is a must to explore.

For the price, it's a great place compared with other accommodation. The room was cozy, and the bathroom had everything needed. Noise was the worst part. Sound came in from everywhere, despite the Booking.com claim that the rooms were soundproof. A few nights were hard because of it.
