Argentario Osa Resort

The way into the resort is awkward. It’s right on the Superstrada Aurelia, which you can only take in one direction to get there, so a car is necessary. You can’t walk or bike to the sea, which is frustrating since it seems close. The apartments are very basic. Our supposed two-bedroom was really a one-bedroom with a thin sliding door added, and the kitchen had little equipment, not even a microwave. The pools were okay, but you can’t really swim in them. The smaller one is tiny and very shallow. Breakfast was decent, with sweet pastries and some savory options. The staff were lovely and made good coffee, but one morning nearly all the food was gone by 8:30am. They said there were no more eggs, which was disappointing since there weren’t many other savory choices. Lunch and dinner at the restaurant weren’t great either, and the menu was very limited. There wasn’t much kids’ entertainment and no clear schedule. The staff generally didn’t know what was happening that day, apart from some shows very late at 22:00. We heard they used to have a regular kids’ disco but had stopped it. The playground was dirty and run down. A pretty disappointing stay.

The resort is attractive and conveniently located, but the rooms feel a little dated. Our kitchen wasn’t properly equipped, with no pans, and the staff seemed unfriendly. When the AC stopped working one evening, nobody bothered to help us. They could hardly speak any English and didn’t seem to try to bridge the language gap. As foreigners, we didn’t feel as welcome or as well treated as the Italian guests.

Our apartment was spacious and very clean, and the resort is dog friendly. There are lots of facilities, entertainment every night for adults as well as kids, and a delicious breakfast. The room itself disappointed me, though. It was dark, the windows were small, and there was no balcony or any spot to step outside. The staff were great, especially the foreign guys. They were all humble and really friendly.

At first I had a good impression of the place, which was nice, but that changed after someone broke into our apartment, room # 121. We’d gone out early in the morning for the beach. When we got back, we found they’d entered through the window and left through the back door. Somehow they even took the SAFE, which was supposed to be impossible to remove. Security was ZERO. I’ll never come back, and after this I won’t use the SAFE in any hotel or resort again.
