Hotel Fontermosa

Set in a fine estate on a hillside, with a pool, barbecue and other facilities. When I visited, only the pool was open, perhaps because it was off season. The hotel was very good, clean and comfortable.

We only came for one night, looking for somewhere near the beach to sleep, and were lucky to find this place. The pool area is really cool, the restaurant is very good and the service was amazing. We had our 8-month-old baby with us. They had baby chairs and helped us throughout our stay.

The receptionist was very kind, but we never saw the manager. The superior rooms didn’t look like the website, so we asked to move. The air conditioning didn’t work, and the bathroom smelled like a sewer. We asked reception for help three times, then at midnight opened the patio door because it was cooler outside. We couldn’t sleep because of the trains, birds and bugs. The next morning, no one could help, and we switched rooms for the third time. It’s a very strange place with hardly any guests, yet there was still no manager and no offer of compensation. I got tired of sitting around waiting for the manager to show up. Terrible for the money we paid.

We stayed two nights on our way back to Germany. The staff were very friendly and courteous, and the rooms were beautiful, with huge balconies. Breakfast was great despite the Corona situation, and the pool was a nice place to relax. The evening food is probably very good, but you need a reservation. We couldn’t get a table when we arrived. Tamalone and Grosseto nearby are worth seeing.
