BGY Airport

I sent the host photos of our IDs the day before we arrived, and he acknowledged them. Then on arrival day, I got a message in the afternoon saying my card had been charged but the payment hadn’t gone through. It’s a credit card I’ve used without problems before. I contacted him right away, and he said he’d try again. The payment succeeded in under a minute without me doing anything, but he charged €2 more than the booking confirmation said. When I asked why, he said he was adding €2 for the trouble of trying again. I mentioned contacting Booking support, and he said he’d refund the €2. He also said he’d first check that there was no damage in the room, which felt intimidating to me, especially as the room already had holes in the wall and wardrobe, a broken hairdryer, and stains and scratches on the walls and doors. I took that as a threat. I’ve never had a host on Booking.com act this way before. I took photos of the existing damage and screenshots of our WhatsApp chat, which I’m attaching as evidence. From earlier feedback, I got the impression he cancels reservations close to the date so he can charge more if someone else wants the rooms.
