Agriturismo Antico Casale

Antico Casale lets everyone use the pool, which isn’t something you find at many agriturismos. The owners are kind, and you can spend the day enjoying good food, relaxing, and having fun. The cooking is homemade, with quality ingredients, and the setting in nature is peaceful. If you want to feel at home and have a quiet day, this is the place. Spectacular!

We felt right at home thanks to the staff, who were always helpful, polite, and kind. The food was excellent, fresh, and homemade, just what you’d hope for at a farmhouse. The property is beautiful, welcoming, and very well cared for, with a lovely pool for relaxing among the greenery and paths for long walks. It works well for couples and families alike. We’ll definitely come back. Highly recommended!

We only tried the restaurant. The house wine tasted almost acidic to me, and the meal was a letdown: although the menu ingredients sounded good, the dishes came out slowly and cold, especially the fresh pasta with ragù and the roast. The staff seemed rushed and sometimes impatient, and there probably weren’t enough of them for the number of guests. One star is me being encouraging. The natural setting is charming, but the upkeep needs attention, even for a family-run agriturismo. There was just one bathroom for about 70 guests, black towels of unclear purpose under the panoramic terrace and around the pool, too few loungers and seats despite guests having to take turns, and no proper working shower. Getting there is difficult too, along narrow, unpaved roads that are barely passable. It’s about 20 km from the Calabrian Ionian coast. I’d definitely avoid going in the evening, and probably avoid it altogether.

We came back to the property with friends for August 15th and had another carefree day surrounded by nature. The appetizers were superb, and the main courses were generally very tasty. The pool was in great shape and the staff managed it well. It’s a shame that some rude, presumptuous guests sometimes act as if they have exclusive use of it and ignore everyone else.
