Casa Sogno

It’s close to the historic center, but the house is very basic and wasn’t particularly clean. There isn’t enough space for what you need, and the bathroom is very small.

The location is excellent, and the host was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable, giving the impression of knowing the city inside out. Sadly, that didn’t make up for the cleanliness. It wasn’t even sufficient, and the stay felt like a nightmare instead of a dream. Tourist accommodation should be extremely clean. The linens, sheets, pillows including decorative ones, bedspreads, and everything else MUST be immaculate, and they weren’t. It almost seemed as though the previous occupant had just left everything behind, with no attention to hygiene. How Booking.com gave it a 9 for cleanliness is still a mystery to me. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

The location is central and convenient, and there’s parking. The small apartment has charm, and the owner is kind and happy to share tourist information. But it’s packed with clutter and knick-knacks, some of them questionable, leaving hardly any room. The huge sofa and bulky cushions take up much of the living area. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the camping crib mattress was so thin and worn that our baby rolled into it. The floors and kitchen could have been cleaner. I don’t think I’ll come back.

The little square outside the apartment is wonderfully quiet, and the place itself was clean. I liked the local tuff touches, the lace bedspread, the ceramics, and the effort to make the rooms cozy. There are lots of books and tourist information, and the woman who greeted me was lovely and shared plenty of useful tips that I followed exactly. It’s good value and very conveniently located. I’m sensitive to room fragrances, which the owners couldn’t have known, and the little hearts used as a theme weren’t really my thing. I also felt a bit surrounded by objects. Still, if I’m back in Orvieto for a night, I’ll stay here again.
