The piazza is charming, with a few restaurants, and you can walk to both the pharmacy and the market. Getting here takes some planning, though. It’s a bit of a walk from the train station, there are no taxis in Ostiglia, and Uber may or may not work. Having a friend with a car or getting around by bike would make things easier. The sidewalks are narrow, so don’t bring more than one suitcase. The owners don’t speak English, but Google Translate helped us communicate. They’re absolutely delightful, and the beautiful rooms, amazing dining room, delicious breakfast, and exquisite garden made the stay special. Just don’t stay out too late, since the mosquitoes can get pretty bad.

The owners were warm and generous with their time, explaining the place and its history. This lovingly restored 18th-century palace, with the feel of a 17th-century one, is a remarkable place to stay. Its original ceilings, trompe d’oeil paintings, and marble staircase are gorgeous. The rooms are thoughtfully styled, and everything is immaculate. If you’re looking for a glimpse of the Po valley’s history and a chance to sleep beneath painted ceilings, this place is unique and highly romantic. I loved it. Thank you to the owners.

Every morning started with a delicious breakfast, and the hosts took such wonderful care of us. B&B Antica Dimora is a beautifully restored old house, full of classic charm while still offering the modern comforts you need. It’s a spectacular place and made for a perfect stay. The staff was wonderful too.
