Il Sogno Delle Benedettine

I ended up paying for two hotels for the last two nights, and we had to move my electric wheelchair to the accessible one in a Tuk Tuk. I’d booked B&B almost a year ahead and had told the hotel about the chair, asking whether there were steps at the entrance. I was told there weren’t, only two steps to the bathroom, which I can manage because I can walk a little. When I called the day before arrival to check the check-in time, I mentioned the wheelchair again. That’s when I learned there were two large steps into the bedroom. The chair weighs 60lbs, so I explained that this wouldn’t work and booked another hotel about 10 minutes away that was disability friendly. Gloria, the young woman I spoke with, was very nice and hadn’t known about the wheelchair. It was clearly a communication breakdown. She did find a solution with help from the hotel across the street, whose staff kindly let me keep and charge the chair in their lobby. Since I’d already made another reservation, I stayed at Sogno Delle Benedetto for the first night of my three-night booking, thanks to Gloria’s effort and the other hotel’s hospitality. I asked the owner of Sogno Dell Benedetine, Francisco, for a refund because of the mistake. He wouldn’t refund the two unused nights, and also refused when I asked if I could pay for just one of those nights instead. I’d booked the other place after finding out about the steps, before Sogno Delle Benedetine found a solution. I was very disappointed by the communication and by the owners’ unwillingness to be reasonable, especially since I’d made clear that I was traveling with a power wheelchair.
