Cannulo Lungomare Otranto

The location is a real plus, with a beautiful beach just a few steps away. Our room was nice, with a balcony overlooking the water, and breakfast was served there after we chose from a menu in advance. The host made a real effort with it. Housekeeping was excellent and friendly. To be fair, he tried his best, answered our questions, and let us check in early. Still, the arrival was the most disappointing of our holiday, after staying at four other accommodations. At more than €200 per night, this was the most expensive place on our trip, so the poor communication stood out. Emails went unanswered, and contact was only through WhatsApp. We hadn’t received arrival details, struggled to find the entrance, and ended up disturbing local residents. The entrance door and hall were in poor shape, we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs, and our welcome from the host was cold. It feels more like an AirBnB than a B&B, since the host only comes by for check-in and breakfast. Parking cost €5 per day and was a five-minute walk away. The beach gets extremely busy on weekends. The photos show what it looked like on Sunday and Monday. Otranto itself is beautiful, with lots of restaurants. The beaches are small, but the water is amazing, like a giant swimming pool. There are many beautiful beaches a 10-20 minute drive north of Otranto, and a lovely coastal drive south to Castro. I’d recommend the accommodation for the location, room, and breakfast, but it isn’t worth more than €200 a night. Be ready to haul your luggage up the stairs.
