A little hidden gem in Otranto, with a lovely selection of pastries, mini cakes, and ice cream. The service is lovely, the opening hours are good, and the sweets come in beautiful packaging if you want to give them as a present.

It’s definitely worth seeing. This is the main gate of the Aragonese city, opposite the Castle. It probably served as the entrance to the medieval citadel and perhaps even the Messapian one, as some remains incorporated into the central gallery suggest. Originally, at the end of the 15th century, there were two half-towers side by side, with the gate in the middle and an open path leading to it. Later, it was protected by a triangular ravelin and a moat crossed by a drawbridge. Ciao from Roby and Lucy from Sant'Anastasia (Naples)

From the entrance to Otranto’s historic part, there’s a beautiful park just ahead, then the sea. Once through, it’s only a few steps to the cathedral, followed by the castle along winding streets. Quite a feat in mid-July!
