I stayed at Hotel Degli Haethy for a few days last June, 2024, and felt right at home, maybe even better. It's a lovely, quiet, very clean hotel, but the staff are its best feature. I'm disabled, so the elevator was very useful. They were extremely friendly and efficient, and handled several questions successfully and with goodwill. My room was spacious and nice, with a balcony and all the amenities, including a state-of-the-art shower with different water jets. There's a handy supermarket a few blocks away, and the beach is one hundred meters away. I don't know when I'll next return to southern Italy, but I'll definitely come to Otranto and stay here again.

The hotel staff were courteous and helpful, but management was another story. We paid more to book the beach through the hotel than we would have by going directly to the beach resort. Even though the hotel had given us a written quote guaranteeing a certain service, it had management and communication problems with the resort and wouldn't guarantee us an umbrella. When we brought this up, the manager suggested a public beach or moving to a more distant resort, at our own expense. There was no apology and no discussion of a refund. We emailed about it, but neither the manager nor the owner replied or offered one. I deal with customers all year and didn't want to have to work while on vacation. If you're hoping to relax or make fond memories of Otranto, I'd definitely avoid this hotel.
