Bed and Breakfast San Marco Pacentro

We had the entire apartment to ourselves, with lots of room, and stayed in two separate bedrooms. All the linens we needed for sleeping and washing were provided, which made packing lighter. Being right in the center made it easy to explore Pacentro, a truly beautiful village. The hostess had also left us a plate of traditional sweets, a thoughtful surprise.

The only reason we gave the property two stars was its convenient location. The rooms get one star: dated furnishings might suit the village, but the mattress needs replacing. It sagged, and my wife and I both woke up with severe back pain. Cleanliness also wasn't up to par, and breakfast was extremely poor quality, all pre-packaged Eurospin products. We tried the complimentary limoncello too, and it seemed a bit watery. At €90 a night for two in a B&B, it isn't cheap, and we weren't satisfied. For us, the value for money was unacceptable.

The apartment had several beds, plus a crib and high chair, and the kitchen was fully equipped. The owner was very kind and even stocked the fridge with a generous breakfast: milk, yogurt, and juice, along with jam, Nutella, toast, snacks, cookies, and coffee. The house is old but well maintained and clean, in a beautiful central location.

Pacentro is a lovely village only a few kilometers from Sulmona, and we spent the Christmas holidays at this B&B. The owner and her son were extremely kind and helpful. The apartments were spotless and had everything we needed, even salt and olive oil. Breakfast was plentiful, with plenty of choice: local pastries, Sulmona sugared almonds, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, toast and jam, cereal, chocolates, Nutella, and milk. It's a comfortable place for a few days away from city bustle while still being close to the ski slopes.
