The service was a mess from start to finish. The host communicates with canned messages, rarely responds in the booking chat, and says calls are only answered between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Still, when I called several times after arriving in Padua, no one picked up. I also asked for an invoice at checkout and was told it would be sent within three days. After it never came, I called the property repeatedly over the following weeks. They kept saying they'd ask their “boss” to send it. Booking contacted them too and got the same story. After a month and a half of calls, including calls with booking managers, they sent a screenshot of an invoice that isn't valid for tax purposes. The room itself was dirty and in poor shape, nothing like the advertised photos. The sofa bed was clearly broken, with cracked slats, and the mattress was propped against the wall where the real bed should have been. The kitchen was worn out, the dishes old and damaged, and the coffee maker was half broken in a drawer. There weren't any spare blankets or pillows. The bathroom smelled strongly of sewage whenever we turned on either the tap or shower, and the terrace was covered in pigeon droppings. The air conditioning didn't work. When I told the host, I was rudely told nobody had complained before and that it would turn on by itself. It never did. The internet was down too.

The only thing that worked out was the location. I stayed with six friends, and this is the first time I've felt I had to leave a bad review. We booked through Booking.com after seeing lovely photos of the interior, but when we got the keys last Saturday afternoon, we were told we couldn't stay at the apartments at Via Scrovegni 3 because of cleaning problems during the previous stay. Instead, they sent us to different apartments in central Padua, which they described as more luxurious. The stairway up to those apartments was extremely dirty. Inside, the windows wouldn't open and the furniture was broken. Some towels were damp and smelled bad, and one bed had stained sheets. The place didn't match the photos on Booking.com at all. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We had bought food to cook because the apartment had a kitchen, but the induction hob didn't work. Since it was raining in Padua, we ate there and ended up throwing away all the meat we'd bought. The room had other problems too. A dirty, dried-out towel was under the bathroom sink, and the toilet drained into the shower trap, so flushing made water leak into the shower. We checked in at 4 PM, which should have left plenty of time to clean the room and bathroom properly. Getting in was frustrating. Check-in required collecting the keys from a place away from the building after a long trip, and I had a heavy backpack. The key only opened the front door once; after that it wouldn't work. We waited for someone else to come out and let us in. My 85-year-old mother was with me and had to sit on the floor after a walk. I felt humiliated. I tried calling the office, but only got the answering machine. The coffee maker had been taken apart, though it didn't matter much since there wasn't a single coffee pod, bread roll, or even 1.5 rolls for four people staying two nights.

The location was a plus, about 10 minutes from the center and 3 minutes from parking, but the price doesn't match the service. Check-in was awful: we had to collect keys in another building and wait in a line for around 20 minutes, like at the post office. We were four people in room 105 for two nights, with one bed and a double cot. Moving the cot revealed a sock, probably left by earlier guests. There were ants near the beds, no spare blankets or pillows, worn towels, no bathroom rugs, and an unclean toilet. The kitchen had just a few supplies, including an empty coffee container.
