Booking.com eventually contacted the property and said housekeeping would come, but when we got back that afternoon, all the problems we’d reported were still there. They’d made the beds and replaced the linens, but nothing else. I sent Booking.com more photos and said we were leaving to stay somewhere else. My Place never got in touch to fix things or even apologize, though they had my contact details. In the days after, Booking.com said the property had apologized to them, but wouldn’t compensate us, refund the unused night, or cover the cost of the other accommodation we had to find. I could say more about the management and how they handle customers, but I’ll stop here. I won’t stay at a My Place again. We’d booked two nights after seeing the good reviews and never expected such a bad experience. On arrival, the apartment was dirty: the sofa and curtains were stained, chairs had crumbs, the fabric headboard was thick with dust, and there were cobwebs, live and dead insects, and grime around the windows and sills. We’re not especially fussy, so we tried to overlook it. Then we found blood stains all over the toilet seat, lid, and down to the flush. I called the only number they’d provided and got no answer. They never replied in the days after either, so I can honestly say I was never able to reach them. Booking.com had long wait times, and it was late with plans already made for that evening, so we had no other option but to stay that night. In bed, we found more blood on the bedspread and my pillowcase. The next morning I reported everything to Booking.com and sent photos. The property didn’t respond, while Booking.com did and said they’d spoken to them. For the record, the property never contacted me directly. Their lack of communication and refusal to put things right made an already awful stay worse.

The apartment was nice and the bathroom had hot water, but getting inside was a real struggle. The number we called went unanswered, and we were lucky to run into someone who had another phone number for them. The ground-floor Wi-Fi password was wrong, so try the first-floor network. There was dirt under the double bed, and the sofa bed was tiny, nowhere near large enough for two people.

The location deserves four stars, but I rated the service two because we’ve had problems on recent stays and they weren’t resolved.
