They charged us €1,300 and left us in apartment 25 for the whole stay with a window that wouldn’t close. I called several times, but no one ever came to fix it. Anyone could have got in, and they didn’t care. Their answer was that we could leave if we didn’t like it. Sure, as if they’d pay for my vacation somewhere else. The apartment is absolutely dilapidated, and the electrical outlets are disgusting. Shame on you. These people are truly unsavory.

There were hardly any kitchen utensils, and the balcony door was a struggle to close. The shower enclosure was old, with its walls off the tracks, so water kept flooding the bathroom. In room 21, the support in the middle of the bed was broken, and I rolled into a “hole” all night. Also, they charge €15 a day for white-bordered parking spaces, which are free in Italy, and give no receipt.

From the balcony there’s a little glimpse of the La Maddalena archipelago, a view that stays with you. The place is welcoming and clean, with simple furnishings and lovely handcrafted Sardinian curtains. The staff were very helpful. It sits in a small corner of old Palau, and little paths through Mediterranean scrub lead easily to a charming beach. There isn’t furniture on the terraces, but a beach towel is enough to stretch out and daydream under the clear, starry sky. The moon lights up those cool summer nights, with a sea breeze scented by salt, mastic and myrtle. See you soon!

I stayed in an apartment at Gemme di Mirto Residence from December 18th to February 18th. On February 7th the electricity started cutting in and out. I was freezing, since the air conditioning was the only way to heat the house and it ran on the power that kept going off. After a couple of days of this, they shut off the electricity completely. We then found out the owners hadn’t paid the bills. They never returned the €500 deposit I paid with the first rent, and it’s been two months. EXCELLENT SCAMMERS
