Alma Hotel

Everything central in Palermo was within walking distance, and the continental breakfast was nice. Michele checked us in and was great, as were the other accommodating, friendly staff. Our room felt safe and spacious, and it was clean. I was especially happy to find a memory foam pillow instead of the flat feather ones you often get in hotels. The street was busy, but noise wasn't an issue. The AC was a little weak and made some noise, though it did the job and didn't bother us.

The beds were comfortable, the service pleasant, and the location decent. Our room, though, smelled a bit like an old cellar and was very noisy. After the owner's reply: I asked after two nights if we could move rooms. They couldn't do it that day and suggested I ask again the next day. I couldn't be bothered to follow up. I think basic comfort should be there without guests having to ask for it explicitly.

The staff really stood out. They were warm and took time at check-in to tell us about Palermo. The location was good, with most attractions around a 20-30 minute walk in any direction. Rooms are on a couple of different floors along with reception. They're small, but well kept, and have a mini fridge and safe.

The city center is only a few minutes away, and our sixth-floor room faced the street, but we barely heard anything from outside. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms stayed very clean throughout our week-long visit. The hotel and our room were spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with lots of sweet choices. We'd expected vegetables too, but were happy with what was available. The elevator moves slowly, though it worked fine. The stairs are an option for more active guests, while the elevator was just right for my mother, who couldn't use the stairs. We had a lovely stay and would happily return to Palermo.
