B&B Opera dei Pupi

We were two adults visiting Palermo for the first time, and the room made a great base: it was spacious, very clean, and brilliant. The location is right in the heart of the city, with restaurants just a few minutes away and the main tourist spots walkable, so we didn't use public transport. The host was friendly and helpful, and breakfast had an excellent selection. We'd recommend staying here.

The entrance to the building looks ugly, but inside the B&B is clean and nicely kept. It's right above the market, where music and noise carry on for much of the night, yet the rooms are well insulated and we had no trouble falling asleep. The tenant was welcoming, breakfast was nice, and the B&B is very central in Palermo.

We loved our three nights at Opera dei Pupi in July 2021. It's five minutes on foot from the center, with a market and lots of restaurants directly opposite, plus a nearby bus stop for the airport and Mondello. The neighborhood looks a bit trashy, but the B&B itself is lovely, on the top floor of a residential building. The puppet theatre theme appears throughout, and you can tell a lot of passion and care went into the design and details. The room was otherwise great, though market music could still be heard until 1am despite good insulation. Breakfast is served at a nearby bar and was a good way to start the day.

Wouldn't recommend it. On a Saturday, at least, it was far too loud to sleep, even with the window closed and earplugs, until 4 am. There was a slightly rotten smell, and the rooms didn't look like the pictures. This was the worst money I spent on a two-week trip.
