My family and I felt misled when we arrived, and the place fell short of our expectations in several ways. I’d give it zero stars if I could. We had to cancel at the site and lost our money. The online advertising is misleading: if you drive, you can’t pull up to the entrance. The large, old building was dirty, and the B&B is tucked away on part of the top floor with no clear sign showing where to enter. We struggled to find it. After ringing the bell, we waited a long time for someone to come down and open the door. They were dressed unprofessionally and treated us impolitely. Since the building seems to be residential, you have to walk from the main entrance to a tiny elevator, which needs a special key, then go up to the fourth floor. The whole way into the B&B was strange, confusing, and unexpected. Eventually we spoke to the owner and asked for a refund because we didn’t feel comfortable or safe staying there. He refused and was very rude. It’s an uninhabitable location. When you’re traveling or on vacation, the last thing you want is an experience this uncomfortable.

The rooms were comfortable and breakfast had a nice selection. We felt safe with several locked doors between us and the outside. The owner replied quickly and came to let us in, but we had to work out how to enter ourselves. Look along the door for the cluster of buzzers, then find palazzo Benso among the residence addresses. Lovely cafes are nearby, and the historic district is an easy walk.

The host was very polite and kind, and we enjoyed our stay in this old, authentic building. Our room had a really authentic feel, though we weren’t offered one with a city view. Good value for money.

The owners were lovely, and the room was beautiful with classy vintage furniture. It really is a palazzo! The location is excellent, between the old and new parts of town and the cruise terminal. Even better than we expected. 100% recommended.

The owner was polite and informative, and the staff member made the place feel like a home. Breakfast was adequate, with Italian flavors, and basic things like bottled water, tea, and fruit were available to guests at all times. As a family visiting Palermo, we wanted to feel safe walking around day and night, and the location worked really well. We felt safe at any hour, with minimarkets and restaurants right nearby. The building has character and tasteful Sicilian decor. Shops, sights, and the harbor were all within walking distance. All in all, a great stay.
