I felt completely safe throughout my solo trip, even as a woman traveling alone, and ended up walking around after dark more than I expected. The house matched the pictures, the directions were clear and easy to follow, and the location was unbeatable. There were plenty of good restaurants nearby and a charming wine bar on the next street. It was an absolutely wonderful experience, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The place is close to the central station, and the apartment itself is roomy and nicely decorated. It felt like a lovely way to live like a local in Sicily, with everything I needed in the flat. The kitchen was well stocked and just for my use, and the WiFi was fast and free. It’s in a recently renovated old building; the thick walls kept out the evening noise from the square.

We planned to stay eight nights and left after just one. There was mold throughout, a broken shower door covered with a smelly cloth, and the bed collapsed when I sat down. The mattress was cheap and uncomfortable. The fridge, washing machine, and fan were broken, and neither coffee maker had a handle. For four people, there was only one fork, two spoons, and one knife. When I complained with photos and asked for a refund, the owner said tourists break everything. He refused to return our money, saying we knew what we booked, then found my social media profile and threatened me over leaving a bad review. The whole experience was horrible. Don’t be fooled by the nice photos.

The only real plus is the location, so this might work for a few young people mainly looking for somewhere to have fun. We stayed at Via dei Materassai 46, a pleasant-looking but neglected house. The entrance was gloomy, the place smelled of mold, the shower was broken, hot water came and went, and WiFi didn’t work. I wouldn’t consider it suitable for families.
