The staff were charming, professional, and genuinely friendly, easily the best part of my stay. The room, though, was a disappointment, so I can only give it one star out of politeness. Getting there was a challenge. The hotel is hidden in a very narrow alley in the historic market district, where taxis can't reach it directly. I had to walk the last 500 meters with heavy luggage, which felt like quite a workout. By day there's the busy market all around, and in the evening there's trash. You have to be okay with that local atmosphere. The “boutique” label didn't match what I found: an old building with a cramped staircase and a stark, colorless room that felt completely bare. Rituals toiletries were the only touch of color. There was a single bedside lamp, and it wasn't good for reading. I did appreciate the choice of pillows, the extra towels, and the slippers, but those things alone don't make a boutique hotel. I was so disappointed.

We could walk to the main sights from this spot, right in the heart of an authentic neighborhood by the charming de Capo market. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were warm and professional, making us feel welcome and offering helpful recommendations. We had a great stay!

The location is convenient, but the stay was nasty and uncomfortable. There was a roach in the room I was first given, and they showed me two other rooms. We saw a roach in each one too. The rooms are old and run down, with stains on the sheets, rough towels, mold around the shower and bathroom edges, and dust everywhere. The air conditioner was moldy and dusty as well, and paint was peeling from the radiators. It really doesn't seem like the place is being cleaned or maintained properly.

I made a mistake with the dates when I booked through Booking.com, but noticed it only two minutes later and contacted them right away to cancel or change the date if possible. They immediately said they'd keep the deposit anyway and wouldn't change the reservation. I wouldn't recommend this property. If they treated me that way after just two minutes, when I hadn't caused any harm, they don't seem welcoming to guests. I'd give zero stars if I could.
